Normally I stick to local politics in a Councillor capacity, but following the Green party's disgraceful motion passed at their party conference, many Jewish residents are quite rightly concerned that even turning up to a synagogue that believes in the right for Israel to exist would see them labelled as racist by a supposedly mainstream political party. I can't stand by and watch Green party activists and some of their leaders divide people in my community based on which religion somebody believes or whether they think that the Jewish state has a right to exist. That's real racism!

What is the Green Party's "Zionism is Racism" motion?
On 4 October 2026 the Green Party of England and Wales passed a motion declaring that "Zionism is racism". It brands as racism the belief, held by around nine in ten British Jews, that the Jewish people have the right to a homeland of their own, and binds the party to treat that belief "as any other form of racism". Councillors and MPs of every other party are being asked to say, in public, that Zionism is not racism.
