The statement
Zionism is not racism. I call on the Green Party to reverse its “Zionism is Racism” motion.
On 4 October 2026 the Green Party of England and Wales passed a motion declaring that Zionism is racism. It brands the belief of most British Jews as racism. Councillors of every other party are invited to say, in their own name, that it is wrong. Why Zionism is not racism.

Cllr Helen GreenBentley Heath & The Royds, Hertsmere
Cllr Mike SammonCambridge, SeftonAntisemitism sickens me. Zionism is not racism and I would expect every decent Green politician to make that clear. Zack Polanski’s refusal to condemn the Green Party’s motion has been disgraceful.
Cllr Michael RubinsteinPilkington Park, BuryHappy to belong to a political party which has dealt with its Antisemitism years ago (with a little help from me, I'm proud to say) and which has condemned the disgraceful Antisemitic Green Party Motion.
Cllr Alan AvisEwell Village, Stoneleigh & Nonsuch, East Surrey
Cllr Victoria SenaShere, West SurreyI stand with the Jewish community and support the protection of their rights and identity. It is deeply concerning that such a statement is even necessary, and I urge political parties to reflect on the impact their words have on minority communities.
Cllr Judith LubbockEaton, Norwich
Cllr Dave RowanColne Valley West, KirkleesHi, I stand with Israel, and the divide the left are creating in all our life’s is getting intolerable. Freedom of speech is eroding. The Jewish community are suffering in communities around the UK whilst the government and the lefty Liberals watch on, when the Jewish community who have lived among us for generations have caused no harm and asked for nothing. God be with you all and I will stand by your side. Regards Cllr Dave Rowan
Cllr Andrew ScarthOxhey Hall and Hayling, Three RiversWe live in a multicultural and multi faith community, I am proud to be a member of this community. The motion passed by the Green pary attendees is to be regretted and challenged.
Cllr Chris MyersPotters Bar Furzefield, Hertsmere
Cllr Steve ClarkRushden South, North Northamptonshire
Cllr James WrightWinlaton and High Spen, GatesheadI firmly believe that Zionism is not racism, but rather the fundamental expression of the Jewish people’s right to self-determination in their historic homeland. The Green Party’s recent conference vote to declare Zionism as racism is deeply divisive, alienates Jewish communities, and undermines the path toward a peaceful, negotiated two-state solution. I call on the Green Party leadership to listen to its own MPs, reverse this counterproductive motion, and return the party’s focus to environmental and social progress
Cllr David MellerCheadle East & Cheadle Hulme North, Stockport

Cllr Shaun EdgeCrawcrook and Greenside, GatesheadI stand firmly with Gateshead’s Jewish community, one of the most established Orthodox Jewish communities in Britain, with a proud history stretching back over a century. But supporting our Jewish neighbours and standing up for Palestinian rights are not mutually exclusive. I believe firmly in a two-state solution, with Israel and Palestine living side by side in peace, security and dignity.

Cllr Diana StewartCouncillor Diana StewartLiberal Democrat Details, East Riding of Yorkshire
Cllr Heidi WildhirtCleadon Park & Harton Moor, South TynesideIt is frightening to see Jewish people’s right to national self determination questioned and dismissed, less than a century after the Holocaust. Jewish people, like every people, deserve the same right to live in safety and determine their future. I find it deeply troubling that any political party should have to debate a motion that treats Zionism as inherently racist. I cannot understand how anyone could remain a member, let alone represent, a party that gives such a motion legitimacy. I stand firmly against antisemitism and in support of Jewish people’s right to a homeland.
Cllr Ross IrvingMeir Hay North, Parkhall and Weston Coyney, Stoke-on-Trent
Cllr Philip LashbrookBellinger, Test ValleyThose who label other as racist are in fact racist.
Cllr Shaun BarclayHarton, South TynesideI oppose racism in all its forms, i oppose antisemitism, and i support the rights and dignity of both Jewish and Palestinian people. Human rights should never be a competition, and standing up for one community should never require denying the rights of another. I oppose the Green Parties motion when they say Zionism is racism.
Cllr Jonathan BibbCouncillor Jonathan BibbConservative Details, East Riding of YorkshireI will always stand with our Jewish community against this racist attack from the Green Party.
Cllr Bob HughesShere, West SurreyAnyone who believes in equality should support the State of Israel. It has been repeatedly and very often daily attacked by its neighbours and terrorists groups on all sides. Their murderous attacks should not be rewarded with support for a caused backed by so may antisemites.
Cllr Sean McMasterCouncillor Sean McMasterConservative Details, East Riding of YorkshireThe motion that was passed at the Green Party at their annual conference is a disgrace. How a supposed 'mainstream' political party has been allowed to pass such a dispicable motion is beyond belief. Zionism is NOT racism and I stand firmly in support of our Jewish communities and with the state of Israel and its right to exist.
Cllr Dan MarrDavenham, Moulton and Kingsmead, Cheshire West and Chester
Cllr Kris BrownGateacre, Liverpool
Cllr Matthew JonesKidderminster - St Johns, WorcestershireHere we go again… Another CrAzY decision from the Green Party. Just when you think political common sense might prevail, along comes another statement that leaves you shaking your head. My Wife’s uncle is Jewish, so this is personal to me and my family. I firmly believe Jewish people deserve the same rights and respect as everyone else. Antisemitism has absolutely no place in our world, regardless of which party it comes from.
Cllr Dr Martin CahnHiston & Impington, South CambridgeshireDefining Zionism as racism denies the Jewish people their basic right to self-determination and misrepresents a key part of Jewish identity. Zionism is the same as Polishness or Britishness yet no party would ever vote that either of them means racism.
Cllr Keith ClarkeRushden Lakes, North Northamptonshire
Cllr Sean SmithSt Cleer & Menheniot, Cornwall
Cllr Peter MacDonaldMinster Cliffs, Swale
Cllr John WaineBulkington & Whitestone, WarwickshireThe recent sudden increase in antisemitism in Britain is, to say the least, alarming. The attempts by a rag-tag alliance of Left-wing organisations to rewrite history by denying the known facts of the Holocaust and equating Jews with the Nazis is a disgrace and an affront to humanity.
Cllr Alan LeamanSevenoaks Northern, Sevenoaks
Cllr Roger CrouchIsleworth, HounslowThe motion does nothing to tackle rising antisemitism and Islamophobia in this country. As a Holocaust educator, this scares me.
Cllr Brett RosehillAldenham East, HertsmereZionism is the belief in Jewish self-determination in our ancestral homeland. It is part of my Jewish identity, and I will neither apologise for it nor allow others to define it for me. Proud Jew. Proud Zionist. No apologies. 🇮🇱

Cllr Bob GrinsellSt Alphege with Monkspath & Hillfield, Solihull
Cllr Phillip RedshawCouncillor Phillip RedshawLiberal Democrat Details, East Riding of YorkshireYou can stand with Palestinians and fiercely criticise Israel without declaring Zionism inherently racist. By doing so, the Greens risk legitimising antisemitic ideas and discriminatory treatment. The liberal alternative is clear: equal rights, security and self-determination for Jews and Palestinians.
Cllr Adam GilesCrome, Norwich
Cllr John BlackwoodMartins Wood, Stevenage
Cllr Mike HobdayLondon Colney, St AlbansI firmly believe that Zionism is not racism, and I remain steadfast in my support for a two-state solution that guarantees peace, prosperity, security and self-determination for both Israelis and Palestinians.

Cllr Julie LumsdenCorby West, North Northamptonshire
Cllr Tony DiciccoBalsall & Berkswell, Solihull
Cllr Andy SmithAshtead, East SurreyI was very saddened and dismayed by the Green Party conference vote to endorse this motion. It is divisive and harmful to community cohesion. A number of prominent Green politicians, councillors and former Green Party leaders warned against going in this direction. The conference should have heeded their advice.
Cllr Phil NorthBourne Valley, Test ValleyI stand with British Jews and Jews worldwide against anti-Semitism and support the protection of a sovereign Jewish state in the historical land of Israel.
Cllr Jason WoodScotforth East Ward, LancasterThese are complex issues that cannot be reduced to single sentence slogans
Cllr Natalie ShalomHale Ward, Trafford
Cllr Bryan BlackOxted South, TandridgeI strongly disagree with motion passed by the Green Party. There is no evidence to back it. Israel is a country not only for Jewish people, but there Christians, Arabs, Muslims all living together. How can you call Zionists racists? Polanski is the leader of the party, and while he didn't vote he clearly doesn't have control of his party and should resign.
Cllr Ian MorrisCarpenders Park, Three Rivers

Cllr Jon BallEaling Common, Ealing
Cllr David Michael FordBaildon, BradfordJust to say I fully support your pledge and condemn the Green Party for the motion they passed at their conference. I was a member of the Green Party for 30 years and sat as a councillor for them 2000-2007, as well as a Parliamentary candidate in 2010. I left the party in 2016 because of the rising antisemitism in the party, after being active in a group called GreensAgainstAntisemitism. The Jew hate in the Green Party is now beyond anything in my worse nightmares. [They] are an openly antisemitic party, on a par with groups like the NF in the past.
Cllr Simon EardleySaughall and Mollington, Cheshire West and ChesterZionism is the right to Jewish self-determination in their ancestral homeland. The Green Party, in passing its “Zionism is racism” motion, shames them in the most despicable way, effectively siding them with the ideology of extremists like Hamas. This extreme and racist motion has no place in British politics. I’m proud to be a Zionist. The people of Israel live. #AmYisraelChai 🇮🇱
Cllr Shaun ReganBrinnington & Stockport Central, Stockport
Cllr Linda BowenRochester West and Borstal, MedwayYou can stand against the actions of the current Israeli regime without denying the right of Israel to exist. My thoughts are with all those who lost their lives on 07/10/23 and since, whether Israeli or Palestinian. I support a two state solution.

Cllr Alan Parker J.P.Monk Bretton, BarnsleyI stand with the Jewish people that Zionism is not racism. Contrary to what is said about Reform UK, we are against any type of racism and will not tolerate it in any form. Cllr Louise BlackmanPerranporth, CornwallI believe Zionism, understood as support for Jewish self-determination in Israel, is not a racist ideology, while recognizing that reasonable people disagree and that Israeli government policies may be criticized like those of any other state.
Cllr James ValentineKempston West, Bedford
Cllr Martyn PunyerArmitage with Handsacre, LichfieldI wholeheartedly condemn the Green Party's adoption of the "Zionism is Racism" motion policy. It is an afront to the Jewish people and to all who believe that Jews have the right to live in peace.

Cllr Lee MasonExmouth Brixington, East Devon
Cllr Mark CherryBanbury Ruscote, Cherwell
Cllr Rob WalshBrookfield, PrestonThe Greens have adopted a policy which incites hatred against Jewish people following a majority of their party voting to declare “Zionism is racism”. It is clear that Islamic extremists and their sympathisers have captured the Green party. Extinction Rebellion, Insulate Britain, Just Stop Oil, Palestine Action, The Green Party - Each time they regroup under a new name they get more extreme and brazen with their antisemitic goals. Zack Polanski is a traitorous coward.
Cllr Eric BuckmasterSawbridgeworth, East HertfordshireThe motion of the Green Party at their national conference is abhorrent and dangerous and does nothing to build harmony among communities. They must reverse this policy.
Cllr Peter BoylanGreat Amwell and Stansteads, East Hertfordshire
Cllr Geoff PearlEccleston, St. HelensZionism is not racist. Zionism is the right of Jewish people to live in their on Homeland Israel. I would accuse the Green Party of antisemitism. They have never condemned Hamas of the atrocities they carried out on 7th October 2023 before and since. They have never condemned the atrocities carried out by Palestinians through out the years or their pay to slay policy.
Cllr Emma HamptonUniversity, Norwich
Cllr Aubrey HoltThe Mundens, East Hertfordshire
Cllr Mark DobsonGarforth and Swillington, LeedsI am progressing a White paper in council in November stating that Zionism is not racism.
Cllr Marc AmronBushey Park, HertsmereAs a Hertsmere councillor and a proud British Jew,I call on the Green Party to reverse its deeply offensive motion equating Zionism with racism.Zionism is the belief that Jews, like other peoples, have the right to self determination in their ancestral homeland. Denying Jews that right, while upholding it for others is a glaring double standard. Criticising Israel’s government is legitimate; demonising Jewish national self-determination is not. At a time of rising antisemitism, the Green Party must recognise the gravity of its language. Equality must mean equality for Jews too.

Cllr Charlie TuffinBerkeley Vale, Stroud
Cllr John ChallinorCanford Cliffs, Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole
Cllr Keith DriverLakenham, Norwich
Cllr Jonathan CloseEuxton, ChorleyI was absolutely appalled by this motion. The Green Party leadership is a disgrace and has badly let down their members and supporters. Most of whom are honest, decent people who just want to make this world a better place, hold no ill feeling towards the Jewish community, and are equally appalled by this. They must reverse this motion and apologise immediately to preserve any lingering credibility or respect for their party and membership.
Cllr Tony StoweAston, Datchworth and Walkern, East Hertfordshire
Cllr Miles Parkinson OBEClayton-le-Moors, Hyndburn
Cllr Ian DevonshireMuch Hadham, East Hertfordshire
Cllr Jonny CopeSt Pauls, Surrey Heath
Cllr Kelly DuddridgeVictoria, North NorthamptonshireI have always supported the two-state solution for Israel and Palestine to find a peaceful way forward. I do not believe that Jewish communities living in the UK should be subject to condemnation or viewed as racist simply for supporting Israel’s right to exist. Criticising the Israeli Government's policies is not antisemitic, and neither is calling out Israel's actions in Gaza and the West bank. You can be pro-two state solution and still call these actions out. The Green motion implies otherwise. I do not support othering of whole communities based on the actions of Israel's Government.
Cllr Bill WilliamsChampion Hill, SouthwarkJewish self-determination is a right. Declaring it racist is an attack on Jews. The Green party has chosen to brand Jews who hold this belief as racists and make their equal participation in the party conditional on renouncing it. This is without doubt the most antisemitic and racist motion brought before a mainstream political party in my lifetime. It is Corbynism on steroids.
Cllr Angus Parsad-WyattSawbridgeworth, East Hertfordshire
Cllr Yehudi LevineDunkeswell and Otterhead, East Devon
Cllr Paul RichardsBushey North, Hertsmere
Cllr Dominic BoeckAldermaston, West Berkshire
Cllr Jamie HendersonMargate, Kent
Cllr Carli HarperLakenham, NorwichWe cannot equivocate on racism. We cannot pick and choose which types of racism we oppose. You can absolutely oppose the Netanyahu Government, stand against illegal West Bank settlements and be appalled by the loss of life and destruction in Gaza, and still believe that Israel has the right to exist, and that Jews have the right to self-determination.
Cllr Eileen FlemingBlackbrook, St. HelensFor me, Zionism isn't racism. I see it as the belief that Jewish people, like any other people, have the right to self-determination and a homeland. I don't see that as being about racial superiority or discrimination. I believe it's entirely possible to support Jewish self-determination while also supporting equality, human rights and respect for people of all backgrounds and communities.
Cllr Ian LewisWallasey, WirralI am appalled that a party which seeks to govern our country believes it acceptable to support the eradication of the state of Israel. The Green Party has been taken over by the worst excesses of those who joined Labour under Jeremy Corbyn.
Cllr Pam McCabeThe Homesteads & Stanford Le Hope North, ThurrockIt is imperitive that the Green party change their attitudes towards the Jewish community. The Jewish should be allowed to live a peaceful life without threats of any kind.
Cllr Elizabeth WrightRaunds, North NorthamptonshireZionism is not racism. Supporting the Jewish people’s right to self-determination does not mean endorsing every action of the Israeli government or denying Palestinian rights. We can stand for the rights, dignity and safety of both peoples. I call on the Green Party to reverse this motion and choose language that encourages understanding rather than division.
Cllr Richard SmithKirkburton, Kirklees
Cllr Hema YellapragadaWarwick Myton & Heathcote, Warwick DistrictAs an active member of SACRE & local Faith Forums, I work to build understanding between faiths and communities. This motion risks division, does nothing to ease Palestinian suffering, and distracts from pressing local and climate priorities. I oppose all racism & discrimination.
Cllr Dave EdmondsRedditch Central (Shared), Worcestershire
Cllr Dan BirchDroitwich East, Worcestershire
Cllr George William BuckleyAiredale, BradfordI believe local councillors should stick to local politics, but following the horrific motion passed at the Green Party Conference I have a duty to stand up for the Jewish residents of my community. I can't stand by and watch Green party activists divide people in my community based on which religion somebody believes or whether they think that the Jewish state has a right to exist. That's real racism!
Cllr Saul JacobBorehamwood South, HertfordshireZionism is the belief in the Jewish people's right to self-determination in their historic homeland. Supporting that right is not of course racism. You can criticise Governments' as we all do from time to time, and that can of course include the Israeli govt. As a Jew and Councillor, I find it deeply upsetting to see Zionism equated to racism. The Green Party and its members have successfully singled out one particular group, one people, to become a target for antisemites. I call upon the Green Party to reverse this motion.
Cllr Hugh MalyanWeston-super-Mare South Worle, North SomersetZionism is the aspiration for a national homeland. To call it racism is a perversion.
Cllr Graham ClackDunton Green & Riverhead, SevenoaksThis was a disgraceful decision by the Greens and must be reversed - or they should be the pariahs of the political world.
Cllr Wayne DixonMiddleton Park, LeedsI think we all know that the problem isn’t Israel’s existence, it’s the fact that a Terrorist organisation runs Palestine. The Israeli Government is run by people who have no thought for a two state solution and are quite frankly acting as bad has Hamas. A one state solution either way will simply cause different problems.
Cllr Vinnie WhitrowHatton Park, North NorthamptonshireI believe that Zionism is not racism, and I therefore call on the Green Party to reverse its "Zionism is Racism" motion. Equating Zionism with racism risks misrepresenting the beliefs of many Jewish people and undermines informed and balanced discussion on this complex issue.
Cllr Steven BarlowStaveley North, Chesterfield
Cllr Conrad Hart-BrookeRothwell, Leeds
Cllr Amor AlbertLongford, CoventryI strongly oppose antisemitism, racism and discrimination in all forms. Zionism should not automatically be characterised as racism, just as Palestinian rights to dignity and self-determination must be respected. I reject the Green Party's blanket declaration and call for its reconsideration. As an elected Coventry City Councillor, I have a responsibility to represent all communities fairly, challenge prejudice wherever it arises, defend freedom of expression and promote mutual respect, equality and community cohesion above political division.
Cllr Rachel CarnacReculver, Canterbury
Cllr Dr Shabina QayyumEast, PeterboroughAs the leader of a council, I always want to bring people together. I too bleed for Palestinian children.I am deeply concerned about the potential of this motion to divide our communities further, make Jewish residents feel unsafe and lead to horrific repercussion and consequence on Palestinians after seeing the destruction in Gaza. This does not mean at all that any political party has the right to take ownership over a Jewish community, or residents belief to be aligned with their place of worship a homeland Or to be placed at risk or in Jeopardy here in this country.
Cllr David DonnellyCorby West, North Northamptonshire
Cllr Andrew MakinsonAllerton, Liverpool

Cllr Glenn MatthewsBirstall West, CharnwoodI stand with the Jewish community and will continue to do so. The 7th October must not be forgotten or get lost in time.
Cllr David HoeyMeriden & Arden, SolihullI will stand up ensure equal treatment of Jewish people, you can count on my support
Cllr Gregory WilcoxIrthlingborough, North NorthamptonshireI stand with Israel
Cllr Joshua SheardBirstall and Birkenshaw, Kirklees
Cllr Robert MayallSevenoaks Rural South, KentI would find it a little less hypocritical of those protesting against Israel if they also campaigned against Iran killing its own people of the People's Republic of China putting Muslims in concentration camps. Is it because Jews aren't involved?
Cllr Peter ClarkeSt Helens, Hastings
Cllr Dawn GambleVerulam, St Albans
Cllr Glen SafferyWoodside, WatfordThe belief in a Jewish state is clearly not an inherently racist belief. It is an essential component of the two-state solution long supported by the vast majority of the international community, the British Government and my party. I believe the two state solution is the only path to long-term security and dignity for the Israeli and Palestinian people. Regardless of appalling and racist provocations from extreme elements on both sides of this conflict, including members of the current Israeli government, we should reject such sentiments unequivocally.
Cllr Andrew HardingStanway and Marks Tey, Essex
Cllr Luke PerrySimonside & Rekendyke, South Tyneside
Cllr Stewart GoltonRothwell, Leeds
Cllr Jack BarwellSelsdon Vale and Forestdale, CroydonNormally I stick to local politics in a Councillor capacity, but following the Green party's disgraceful motion passed at their party conference, many Jewish residents are quite rightly concerned that even turning up to a synagogue that believes in the right for Israel to exist would see them labelled as racist by a supposedly mainstream political party. I can't stand by and watch Green party activists and some of their leaders divide people in my community based on which religion somebody believes or whether they think that the Jewish state has a right to exist. That's real racism!
Cllr Roger BaldwinLoughton Forest, Epping ForestI believe that Israel has a right to exist. I too am absolutely disgusted by the Green Party and blatant far left policies.
Cllr Jan O'HaraBarton Seagrave and Burton Latimer, North Northamptonshire
Cllr Raph CohnAiredale, BradfordLast week was the worst week I can remember for British Jews. We are told we are racists because we believe in a nation-state. We have open celebration of the worst pogrom since the Second World War, when Jews and others were mutilated, raped to death and murdered simply because they exist. When evil boasted of its exploits. And then on Friday, when the antisemite Navi Pillay once the Nobel Peace Prize.
Cllr Catherine PotterHeysham South Ward, Lancaster
Cllr Mark PerksChorley North and Astley, Chorley
Cllr Richard DaviesThames, ReadingAs a Labour Councillor, I strongly believe political dialogue must be rooted in mutual respect, nuanced understanding, and constructive debate. Conflating Zionism—the movement for the self-determination of the Jewish people in their ancestral homeland—with racism is inaccurate, divisive, and alienating to the Jewish community. While robust debate over state policies and actions in the region is essential in a healthy democracy, defining a foundational core of Jewish identity as inherently racist undermines effective dialogue and inclusion. I urge the Green Party to reverse its motion.
Cllr David PageMarket Harborough-Logan, HarboroughZionism is not racist. It is the belief that Jewish people have the right to self-determination in their historic homeland. That right should be respected, not condemned. The Green Party has become a far-left, antisemitic party and members should be ashamed.

Cllr Mark JohnsonShirley North, CroydonCroydon's only Synagogue is in my ward Shirley North. Many members of Croydon's Jewish community also live in my ward. Because of this I feel that it is very important to fight Antisemitism in all its forms. I'm also a Zionist and support Israel wholeheartedly. It's very worrying that the Greens have embraced this evil. I hope all Councillors will support this statement.

Cllr Richard CohenLoughton Forest, Epping ForestTHE STATE OF ISRAEL will be open for Jewish immigration and for the Ingathering of the Exiles; it will foster the development of the country for the benefit of all its inhabitants; it will be based on freedom, justice and peace as envisaged by the prophets of Israel; it will ensure complete equality of social and political rights to all its inhabitants irrespective of religion, race or sex; it will guarantee freedom of religion, conscience, language, education and culture; it will safeguard the Holy Places of all religions; and it will be faithful to the principles of the Charter of UN. 1948

Cllr Joanne AshRossendale South, Lancashire
Cllr Simon MostynMarshalswick West, St AlbansThis is really simple. All Zionism means is the right of the Jewish people who have been subject to blood libels, discrimination, exclusion, expulsion, pogroms and mass murder throughout the centuries to a homeland of their own. The rights of other peoples to a state of their own is not considered racist so there is no rational reason why the right of the Jewish people to a homeland should be treated as such.
Cllr Tony ClaytonSevenoaks Eastern, Sevenoaks
Cllr Brendon Lovell-MooreGeddington and Stanion, North Northamptonshire
Cllr Liam BonesPreston with Preston Grange, North Tyneside
Cllr Yvonne GreeneBanbury Cross and Neithrop, CherwellZionism is not racism. Calling for the destruction of the only Jewish state in the historic homeland of the Jews IS racist.
Cllr Julie CraggWelwyn East, Welwyn HatfieldReligion is not racist, we should all learn to live together in peace.
Cllr Rodney BermanPenylan, CardiffThis approach wouldn't help us achieve peace which has to be our ultimate objective. We must continue to strive for a two-state solution.
Cllr Simon CordonClapham Common and Abbeville, LambethI condemn the loss of innocent life in this conflict, including the 1,195 Israelis who died on 7 October and the 73,000 people who have lost their lives in Gaza, including over 20,000 children. I condemn the actions of Hamas and of the current Israeli government. But criticism of a government must not be used to deny the Jewish people the same right to nationhood afforded to others. Zionism is a legitimate belief that Jews are entitled to national self-determination in their historic homeland. Both Palestinians and Jews have a right to live in peace through a negotiated two-state solution.

Cllr James GraingerOkehampton Rural, DevonJust like I support the English having a homeland to call their own, I fully support the Jewish right to their homeland. Zionism is not racism, it is self-determination.
Cllr Mick LeeShiregreen and Brightside, SheffieldThis show how little the Green understand as Zionism is primary a Juadism movement, but as it can have Christian Zionists too. The Greens are also showing why Zionism is needed as it start as Secluar movement again European Anti-Semitism.
Cllr Prof Chris HarrisWestgate Ward, Lancaster
Cllr Lee CliffHeckmondwike, Kirklees
Cllr Ray BlackmanBletchley Park & Fenny Stratford, Milton KeynesI unequivocally oppose antisemitism and call on the Green Party to reverse its motion\. Jewish people, like all peoples, have the right to safety, dignity and self-determination. For many, Zionism expresses that right; it does not mean endorsing every Israeli government policy. I support Palestinian rights and the freedom of all oppressed peoples. These principles must apply equally. Criticism of Israel is legitimate, but must not become hostility towards Jews or deny them rights afforded to others.
Cllr Mark RichardsonHebburn South, South Tyneside
Cllr Chris MundayCroyland and Swanspool, North NorthamptonshireZionism is the movement for Jewish national self-determination in the Jewish people’s ancestral homeland, Israel. It affirms that Jews, like any other people, have the right to a national home where they can live in freedom and security. That principle is not racism.
Cllr David WilliamsLlanyrafon, TorfaenThe state of Israel has the right to exist, and the Palestinian people should have their own land with a right to self determination. Equating zionism with racism does not support either Israelis or Palestinians and is divisive when we need collaborative action.
Cllr Antony AmirtharajNewbury Speen, West Berkshire
Cllr Graham CheatleyKingswood, North NorthamptonshireI have always been clear that antisemitism is unacceptable and that Jewish people deserve the same respect, dignity and right to self-determination as any other people. For that reason, I am happy to support the statement: "Zionism is not racism. I call on the Green Party to reverse its 'Zionism is Racism' motion." I will continue to oppose antisemitism and all forms of racism and discrimination. Kind regards, Cllr Graham Cheatley (REFORM UK) North Northamptonshire Council

Cllr Jeremy NewmarkBorehamwood Cowley Hill, HertsmereZionism is the national liberation movement of the Jewish people. The new Green Party policy is, put simply, antisemitic Anti-Zionism.
Cllr Adam KellettNew Addington South, CroydonI stand with the Jews of this country against the vile discrimination they receive at the hands of political parties and activists and Government institutions and police forces. It has to stop!
Cllr Seamus Quilty BEMBushey South, Hertfordshire
Cllr Seb JamesBowbrook, Worcestershire
Cllr Milly HillCam East, StroudI was horrified to see this motion passed at the Green Party conference. Poor judgement. For the purposes of this statement my definition of Zionism is the right of Israel to exist. Despite the dreadful Hamas led atrocities of October 7th, I'm deeply critical of the response of this Netayahu led government and appalled by the inhumanity of the situation that they have created in Gaza. I do not support expansionist Israeli settlers throwing Palestinians off their land. I support the right of Israel to exist and regard the two state solution as the only way forwards.

Cllr Richard StephensonAlrewas and Fradley, LichfieldWhilst I have every sympathy with the Palestinian people and have visited refugee communities in Palestine on a number of occasions - attacks on Isreal and Jewish people are not the solution they are part of the problem. I am horrified by the resolution passed at the "Green" conference and call on every honest and self respecting member of the Green Party to disassociate themselves from this horrendous motion which is so threatening to the Jewish community.
Cllr Naomi BloomerSt Michael's, Cotswold
Cllr Richard CoxArmitage with Handsacre, Lichfield
Cllr Paul Morris OBEBushey Heath, Hertsmere
Cllr Seena ShahBroomfield and The Walthams, ChelmsfordThe way the Jewish community is being made to feel in this country is wholly unacceptable. The Britain I was born in and grew up in is a welcoming society. The current sectarian politics promoted by the Green Party is incredibly sad to see. Shameful!
Cllr Shadman ZamanPilkington Park, BuryMuch of the British left now sends Jewish people the same message: you can be Jewish in this country, but you cannot be a Zionist. Zionism is simply the belief that the Jewish people have the right to a state of their own in their ancestral homeland, a shield to ensure the Holocaust can never happen again. As someone born in Bangladesh, a nation that won its own freedom in 1971, I see in Israel the same truth: an oppressed people can stand up, survive and build a home of their own. Zionism is not a dirty word. I am a proud Zionist, and I support this motion.
Cllr Maria JonesPreston Rural, Lancashire
Cllr Ashley JoynesAccrington South, Lancashire
Cllr Graham DaltonLancaster Rural North, LancashireThe Green Party must immediately retract its ‘Zionism is racism’ motion — it crosses from political critique into demonisation of Jewish identity, and it signals to extremists that violence against Jews can be morally justified.
Cllr Simche SteinbergerSpringfield, Hackney
Cllr Harvey CohenElstree, HertsmereA disgraceful and racist policy . The only Jewish state in the world and one in which people of all faiths and none can live together , achieve the highest level of education , government etc

Cllr Glenn BriskiBorehamwood Brookmeadow, Hertsmere
Cllr John WrightChaddesden East, DerbyWe Conservatives are extremely concerned about this motion, and what this says to Jews in our community. For most British Jews, Zionism is not an extreme ideology. It is the simple belief that the Jewish people, after centuries of persecution which culminated in the Holocaust, should have a homeland where they are safe. It is part of their faith, their family history and their identity.
Cllr Eleanor LamingBrundall, BroadlandI voted against the motion and was sad and concerned to see it passed. The wording oversimplified the issue and was alienating. We should work for a future where Palestinians, Israelis and all communities, can live in freedom, security and prosperity.
Cllr James KennedyKenilworth Park Hill, Warwick DistrictThis motion goes against the Green principle of global solidarity, does nothing to help the plight of the Palestinian people and is a gross distraction from all the important work we are doing in our communities as Green councillors.
Cllr Paul NealeNelson, NorfolkNot all Zionists are racist but the current Israeli government is. There must be a stop to occupying Palestinian Land and returning it as decreed by the United Nations. We must all work together to create a 2 nation state in current Israel.
